Description
UPDATE APRIL 2nd: We are listing the last remaining FIFTEEN First Kickstarter Editions to celebrate release of the Second Edition of The IC: An Astrology of Coming Home. These are copies that weren’t claimed by Backers by their deadline in March. Bless the Backers for making this project possible.
If this product page is listed as sold out, that means the First Edition is truly sold out. Don’t be fooled by scammy websites claiming they are selling copies. The IC is thus far only available from Idola Stellarum (and at some point, probably trusted resellers but we haven’t seen any of that yet.)
Fortunately, the Second Edition is now available!

The IC: An Astrology of Coming Home is a book on belonging, a depth exploration to our “deepest heavens,” the Imum Coeli, the bottom of the chart.
Supported by sixteen in-depth client case stories and Pallas’ years of research and writing on astrology, ecology, grief, magic, disability, queerness, settler colonialism, psychology, and literary theory, The IC offers a contemporary perspective on an ancient place.
What others are saying:
“The IC is going to change the sacred texts available in our field in a way that matters to people interested in shared values, not just delineation.”
—Ariana Felix, Writer & Astrologer
The details:
474 black and white pages. Full colour softcover. This edition is limited to 700 copies (500 of those reserved for Kickstarter Backers).
The IC: An Astrology of Coming Home is a story of Pallas’ relational approach to astrology, informed by their client consultation work and their own IC journey, and a resource offering ways to investigate and support magical, healing, and ancestral practices through an astrological understanding and deeper relationship with the IC.
Spacious and intimate, Hugh Tran’s illustrations, typographic, and design work within The IC serves as an altar for the stories, in each of their devotions and struggles. Each case story and accompanying chart is given unique aesthetic attention and space to breathe and settle as the reader accompanies participants’ journeys.
Reading the book is a pilgrimage in itself, a contemplation of relationship, an exploration of the depths we share, and the places we belong together.
From Hugh Tran, on design, typesetting, and art direction of The IC :
“The design of this book is inspired by stories. Stories of the home, and the winding stories around our relationship to our roots. The composition and typographic choices prioritize not only these beautiful curated stories of the IC, but aim to enhance the clarity of the rigorous astrological techniques demonstrated in this work.”
What others are saying:
“The IC is vastly under-addressed in astrological texts while simultaneously being one of the most tender and revelatory parts of the chart.
The bone-close intimacy called forth by heaven’s root requires dexterous, sensitive, compassionate, and wise handling — and that is exactly why Pallas is the perfect astrologer to create an offering like this.
The IC: An Astrology of Coming Home does not pretend to have easy answers, for to pretend to such would be disingenuous at best and outright falsehood at worst; instead, it interweaves story, technique, and a vehement respect for the raw edge of mortal incarnation into a bittersweet love song.
It is a blessing to witness this book come into being.”
—Diana Rose Harper, Writer & Astrologer
Who is The IC for?
- You’re an astrology enthusiast who has learned what the IC is and you want more
- You are a professional astrologer looking to expand your consulting and technical skills to the subterranean
- You are a collector of books (aren’t most astrologers?) and you want something special and beautiful
The IC is not a beginner astrology book. But even a brave non-astrologer will find depth in its pages.
Part narrative, part interview, and part (sometimes advanced) delineation, The IC is as curious about house rulerships, profections, the Saturn cycle, secondary progressions, retrograde periods, eclipses, essential dignity, as it is about:
- Spirit journeys
- Legacies of displacement
- Companion animals
- Inner child healing
- Astrological magic
- Altar tending
- Island pilgrimage
- Familial estrangement
- Zine making
- Temple Mediums
- Adult adoption
- Labour movement organizing
- Lamentation practices
- Psychedelic therapy
- Suicidal ideation
- Ancestral lineage healing
- Wild gardening
- Language learning
- Community mediation process
- Queer kin-making
All case stories are from Pallas’ client work from 2015-2022, so reflect Pallas’ own astrological practice. Everyone is pre-Uranus opposition, with birth dates spanning 1980-1997. The majority are queer. Half are trans and non-binary. About half are white. Many are not born in the so-called US/Canada. A couple live internationally. Each case story participated in a follow-up interview and each draft went through a process of review by the participant.
From Pallas, writer, astrologer, and co-founder of Idola Stellarum:
“As the writer of The IC, I consider myself a steward and a witness. These stories are not my own. The ideas in the book don’t belong to me, but have found a home in me, and through my particular position, education, ethics, and practices, they have found a way out into the world.”
What others are saying:
“Pallas is at the forefront of guiding our diverse astrological lineages into the present moment, synthesizing the essential, foundational aspects of our living tradition with the needs of our world today.
Pallas is skilled in traditional astrological techniques and theory as well as steeped in psychological approaches to astrology developed within the twentieth century.
Fitting for the subject of their book on the Imum Coeli, they also have a robust ancestral practice and have experience wedding the complexity and nuance of astrology with ancestral relations.
Crucially, Pallas has chosen to focus their case studies on clients from diverse experiences, born between the years of 1980 and 1997.
Their book on the IC is a much needed addition to astrological literature for anyone desiring to counsel and guide contemporary people through the ancient art of astrology.”
—Gray Crawford, Writer & Astrologer
The book:
The IC was successfully crowdfunded in April-May 2022. Originally intended as a small resource text that would be ready to print in a few months, the book expanded in proportion to the spaciousness the stories wanted to be told. After intensive writing, revision, and design processes, The IC finally went to the printers in September 2024. Both Pallas and Hugh underwent massive developments on their own IC journeys in the past two years, as well, including Pallas’ immigration saga.
500/700 copies are reserved for Backers of the original Kickstarter. As publisher, Idola Stellarum is pleased to offer a limited release of an extra just under 200 copies of this First Kickstarter Edition of The IC: An Astrology of Coming Home. Eventually, a second edition of The IC will be available in a print-on-demand and e-book format, but there is no current timeline for when those will be available.
