“[Jupiter, the Sun, & Venus are the] three Graces, as it were, concordant and conjoined among themselves. From these three Graces of the heavens, and from the stars of the same kind, astrologers hope for and diligently seek out favors.”

—Marsilio Ficino, Three Books on Life, tr. Kaske & Clark, bk. 3, ch. V, p. 263

Introducing the Graces Collection

The name for our 2026 spring equinox collection, Graces, is taken from Marsilio Ficino’s third book of his Three Books on Life, in which he ordains Jupiter, the Sun, and Venus as the “three Graces.” With this title, which puns on the Latin word gratia which can mean both grace and thanks, Ficino expresses the particularly beneficial and life-supporting quality of the gifts of these three planets.

Although each of the planets play a crucial role in human life and the workings of the cosmos, to understand why Ficino particularly esteemed the three Graces, we have to understand the third book of Three Books on Life in context. Many folks who are familiar with astrological magic likely have some familiarity with the third book, as it is where Ficino waxes poetic about the magical uses of astrology and astrological talismans. The first and second book of his voluminous work are less studied, but they help us understand what Ficino is up to here. The work as a whole is framed as a “treatise on how to be an intellectual and still keep your health” (from the Introduction, p. 4), and in particular how to use medical and astrological remedies to counteract melancholy and the negative effects of Saturn. Ficino himself had “a very bad horoscope” (Introduction, p. 19) and had a personal stake in this issue!

Astrologers have known for a very long time that 2026 was going to be like this. In gentle preparation, your devoted mages at Idola Stellarum planned our last couple of collections around fortification. With further fraying of the social fabric and descent into corruption, the Graces collection represents one way we are trying to kindle some light and good cheer amidst conditions that have pushed many of us into even more fear, anger, grief, and despair. Though a single talisman won’t solve all of a person’s problems, let alone the world’s, a little Grace is a gift when the weight of the world presses melancholy upon us.

Seeking Grace

Jeff Buckley, speaking of his song “Grace” off his magnificent album of the same name, said:

“[T]he song itself is about…it’s an elegy; to no one, about…I always describe it as not fearing anything, anyone, any man, any woman, any war, any gun, any sling or arrow aimed at your heart by other people because there is somebody, finally, who loves you for real, and that you can achieve a real state of grace through somebody else’s love in you.”

—Jeff Buckley, 1994 MuchMusic interview (source)

This sentiment echoes something we have talked about with respect to coming into deeper relationship with the celestial spheres, and stepping into a more ancient mindset and worldview: doing so has the potential to increase one’s sense of existential security, no matter what. We aren’t talking about manifestation vibe affirmation pseudo-magic (and we are also not discounting the ways those practices can sometimes be helpful). We are talking about reality, truth, and the grounding that comes from actual interconnection—the messy, change-bringing, ego-challenging, toxic-individualism-deconstructing kind. Knowing that you are part of a celestial chain stretching from the basest matter to the highest gods—and knowing that they are all interconnected, one and the same, varying expressions of the same perfection—can help us shed the fear and anxiety that attend the disconnection and alienation of contemporary life.

The Graces, in particular Venus and Jupiter as the benefic planets, can most easily help us connect to that sense of cosmic love on a personal, affective level. Understanding the gravity of a living instantiation of celestial grace can, and ideally is, one step in a longer path of shedding more casual engagements of the world, moving away from the isolating and damaging modes of thinking and relating endemic to many modern worldviews.

“[Egyptian cult] statues, we are told, have two natures, one divine and one material, one above and the other below humankind. As creators of these statues, humans are reminded of their own divine origin, and by piously tending and worshiping them, they make the divine at home on earth.”

—Jan Assmann, The Search for God in Ancient Egypt, p. 41

In our writeup of the Mirth & Joy talismans we reflect on how strange it might seem to offer such a lighthearted talisman at such an astrologically and politically heavyhearted moment. In our recently released lesson 12 of our Wondrously Embroidered: The Worldview of Astrological Magic course we reflected on the connections between astrological magic and religion and spirituality. Ultimately, we believe in, and we believe astrological talismans reflect, a spirituality and a mode of spiritual ‘ascent’ that does not leave this world behind.

Ours is a spirituality that fights for this material world, and seeks to make it a world worth fighting for. And that means mirth and joy right alongside understandable anger and grief. The Ikhwān al-Ṣafāʼ (Brethren of Purity) described astrological magic as “the science of magic and talismans, by which subjects are joined to [the rank of] kings and kings to that of angels” (On God and the World: An Arabic Critical Edition and English Translation of Epistles 49-51, trans. Wilferd Madelung et al., p. 95). Just as talismans lift us up toward the angelic, the act of creating astrological talismans, like the ancient theurgical rites of ensouling statues, also works to “make the divine at home on earth” (Assmann, p. 41).

Living in a globalized, highly technological version of the world, Idola Stellarum and many other astrological magicians are privileged and able to gather rare materials and bring these types of talismans to more people than perhaps any time in the history of the world. For how much longer we’ll be able to do this, we do not know—with precipitously rising precious metal prices, supply chains that seem more fragile by the day, and the looming threat of global conflict and economic collapse, it seems very unlikely that the unusual conditions that allow us to bring astrological magic forward in this way will last indefinitely. As an ecologically and globally minded effort, the offerings from Idola Stellarum have always been held in this context: grateful for all the grace involved and on guard against ever taking any of it for granted. But for as long as we can make the divine at home on earth and bring the possibility of greater Grace to people seeking to reiminage a more enchanted world and more full remembrance of vast interconnectedness, we will do so. We hope these Graces inspire you to do the same, in your own ways.

The Graces Collection

The Graces Collection holds gemstone talismans from two elections from 2025. Please follow the links below to visit the individual talisman product pages, or scroll down to see brief previews of each of the talismans.

  • Jupiter in Cancer – Degree of Exaltation amethyst pendants & rings
  • Venus in Taurus – Mirth & Joy rose quartz and lapis lazuli pendants & lapis lazuli rings

Note that all astrological talismans by their time-sensitive nature are extremely limited edition. Only a relatively small number of each specific talisman we release will ever be available. Once they are gone, they are gone. We do want to note with this collection that we should have more Jupiter in Cancer offerings in later collections, though not specifically from this exact election.

(Note also: weight and dimensions listed in product attributes are approximate weights for the entire shipped package, not for the talismans themselves individually. None of the decorative elements displayed in altar photos or product shots besides the chains and jewelry boxes are included with purchased talismans.)

Jupiter in Cancer – Degree of Exaltation

Ensouled during the planetary day of Jupiter between 2:29am and 3:03am EDT on August 15, 2025.

Of the nature of Jupiter in Cancer, these talismans were created with the intent of granting a variety of jovial benefits described in The Book of the Treasure of Alexander including heart health, popularity and respect, victory, and prosperity.

The Degree of Exaltation talismans come in two varieties:

  • Pendants: 20mm (round) and 15x20mm (oval) amethyst cabochons set in gold-plated sterling silver crown bezel pendant settings – $425
  • Rings: 13x18mm amethyst cabochons set in gold-plated sterling silver crown bezel ring settings – $450

NOTE: We almost always require planetary elections to occur during the relevant planetary hour. However, we have been aware that several contemporary astrologicial magicians also consider it acceptable to craft talismans during the relevant planetary day but not hour. Although in general we consider planetary hour to be a stronger factor, for a configuration as rare as Jupiter in his degree of exaltation, we decided to experiment with electing talismans during Jupiter day only—not Jupiter hour—to maximize the accessibility of talismans of this configuration. We also emphasize, however, that we have tested these talismans to our satisfaction and in accordance with our guarantees.

We consider these talismans to be beginner friendly and we issue no specific cautions as to their use.

Venus in Taurus – Mirth & Joy

Ensouled during Venus hour on June 26, 2025 between 2:26am and 2:55am EDT.

Of the nature of Venus in Taurus, these Mirth & Joy talismans were created with the intent of granting the pleasurable affects of the laughter-loving queen, particularly mirth and joy.

The Mirth & Joy talismans come in three varieties:

  • Pendants: two variations, each set in gold-plated sterling silver crown bezel pendant settings:
    • 30mm rose quartz cabochons – $400
    • 13x18mm lapis lazuli cabochons – $400
  • Rings: 13x18mm lapis lazuli cabochons set in gold-plated sterling silver crown bezel rings – $425

We consider these talismans to be beginner friendly and we issue no specific cautions as to their use.

Idola Stellarum Puts the Stars in your Hands

By putting you in relationship with the powerful spirits who peer into the sublunary realm through these talismans, we hope you will be better equipped to face a strange, shifting, and at times terrifying world in which, too often, injustice reigns and corruption prevails. With institutions under siege (some rightfully so) and social contracts disintegrating at the expense of the most oppressed among us, we have to rely on each other. Thankfully, our interdependent networks of care can include celestial angels, too.

The spirits who guide Idola Stellarum know that if we can begin to equip each other with deep and consequential magic, we can begin to make the types of changes that many of us were told as children were possible, and reach toward the dreams which we knew could come true, but which remain withheld by those who hold structural and institutional power. To that end, we provide extensive information on our talismans, because we believe in making the tradition of astrological magic more accessible and allowing people to step into talismanic relationships equipped with the knowledge they need.

On each product page linked above, we offer photographs and a narrative description of the talisman series before showcasing the electional chart (with a precise time range specifying the beginning and end of the ritual window) and discussing the essential features of the election, further magical factors of the election, and reflections on weaknesses of the election. We include ceremonial details of petitions, altars, suffumigations, and, of course, the talismans themselves.

Sanctifying Relationships

In building Idola Stellarum, we aim to not only put people in relationship with talismanic spirits, but to offer an experience of coming into connection. We, as beings of the sublunary realm, rely on our visceral and tactile senses, and so Idola Stellarum set our intention to usher in an experience of quality that would appeal to the aesthetics of body and spirit alike.

To this end, each Idola Stellarum talisman will include: a foil-stamped black velvet jewelry box for safe keeping and display; a detailed writeup about the nature of the talisman, the circumstances and rituals of its creation, and guidance on how to introduce yourself to the talismanic spirit; and a certificate of authenticity signed by Rain & Pallas. All talismanic jewelry in the Graces collection has been set in high quality metal settings. All pendant settings in the Graces collection are gold-plated sterling silver, and each pendant talisman includes a matching 20″ gold plated sterling silver rope chain; all ring settings are gold-plated sterling silver.

Additionally, many questions related to the talismans you may have are answered in our frequently asked questions. We take our role as mages and mediators of the celestial spirits very seriously, and we stand by our work and the relationships we build, tend, and foster. To this end, each Idola Stellarum talisman is backed by several guarantees, which we encourage you to look over, and we also endeavor to be very transparent about what we are not able to guarantee.

Note that good relationships have boundaries, and you should know ours: due to the nature of astrological talismans, all sales are final, and no refunds or exchanges will be offered. Please read our returns & exchanges policy for more information.

Whether or not you hope to meet one of our talismans from this collection, we warmly invite you to keep up to date on our mailing list for more opportunities to join Idola Stellarum for events, spaces, and conversations intended to deepen and improve our relationships, talismanic and otherwise.

Membership in the Inner Sanctum is currently the only way to gain premiere early access to (as well as a member discount on) Idola Stellarum talisman collections. After Inner Sanctum early access, collections go out to our mailing list. Only after this are our collections open to the public, and then only if any talismans remain. The Inner Sanctum is currently closed, but opens quarterly.
