You know magic is real.
You’ve had experiences—
At your altar, with your materia and talismans, your cards and charts, while sky gazing, reading, dreaming—
You feel connected to forces vaster than yourself, their presence, their messages…sometimes.
You also have questions and concerns about those experiences.
You might wonder about safety, fear you might mess up, worry you don’t have the time, energy, or resources to do it right.
After all, astrological magic is complicated, and you’re not always sure which information to trust.
You have ideas of what you should do but lack the time, space, or expertise to bring your visions into reality.
You might struggle with your mental health, executive functioning, or difficult chart placements you feel get in the way of your magical potential.
So now what?
You need trust—in your senses, your intuition, and in the magic itself.
You need confidence—in your practices, discernment, and information.
You need community—to share connection, reassurance, and guidance to unlock the treasures you know exist in your relationships with the stars, the planets, and the Earth.

Want a sense of what the membership is like? Hear from one of our founding members:
“Rain and Pallas have created such a beautiful space at Idola Stellarum. Beyond the gorgeous and powerful talismans, the collection of resources inside the Inner Sanctum are rich and generative, and incredibly accessible for all levels. It is a wellspring of deep magical research and experience, literally at your fingertips. Rain and Pallas are engaging and responsive, and frankly, just delightful to interact with. Their relational approach meets you where you are – without judgment, and with compassionate understanding, even as you are gently but firmly guided to expand your own capacity for generosity and right relation to the human and more-than-human beings around you.”

Who is Idola Stellarum?

Rain Mason Olbert, PhD & Pallas K. Augustine, MA
Think of us as your talismanic guides, offering assistance and perspective as you access this ancient and powerful form of magic.
Through normalizing spirit relationships and providing experiential containers for moving beyond intellectualization, alienation, and fear, we provide guidance within the Inner Sanctum toward enhancing your capacity for relationship and for finding your place within an ecology of spirits so you can feel more connected, resourced, and centered in daily life.
Fun fact: when we first moved in together, Pallas’ book collection had been pared down to the bare essentials. Nevertheless, we discovered we each had four of the same books: the Greer & Warnock translation of Picatrix, Richard Tarnas’ Cosmos & Psyche, Daniel Foor’s Ancestral Healing, and James Hillman’s Re-Visioning Psychology.
Together, we bring a unique blend of relational, ecological, psychological, and ancestral perspectives to an astromagical practice firmly rooted in traditional sources and thoughtful, critical, empathic thinking.
Who is the Inner Sanctum for?
Who is it not for?
Inner Sanctum is for you if…
…you want a more guided introduction to traditional astrological magic and stellar devotion through a relational-ecological lens.
…you are seeking a space for conversation and learning where it’s okay and normal to talk about spirits and spirit-work.
…you want resources from thoughtful, relational professionals who are interested in reducing barriers to access to traditional astrological magic.
…you want to support the ongoing creation of Idola Stellarum talismans and gain exclusive early access to our quarterly releases of astromagical talismanic jewelry.
…you want access to trusted resources firmly rooted in traditional sources, and a voice in how those resources develop and evolve in the future.
…you are willing to foster connections, learn, and share in a space carefully guided by a pair of white settlers committed to their own learning and unlearning.
Inner Sanctum is not for you if…
…your primary interest is in cutting-edge stellar witchcraft and magic, such as heliacal rising talismans or non-Behenian fixed stars. If that’s you, we recommend the work of Sasha Ravitch and Tides of Tethys.
…you want to primarily focus on relational animist witchcraft rather than astrological magic. If that’s you, we recommend the work of Althaea Sebastiani. (Note: they are our featured guest for this quarter’s Inspirit Salon.)
…you want to primarily focus on technical electional astrology. If that’s you, we recommend Drew Levanti’s Initiate course for a relational lens on electional astrology, and Christopher Warnock’s astrological magic course for making talismans.
…you want to focus exclusively on ancestral healing, in which case we recommend Daniel Foor’s Ancestral Medicine offerings.
…you are not willing to abide by principles of care and generosity in a learning space toward other members and ourselves.
…you harbour anti-trans, anti-queer, misogynist, racist, white supremacist sentiments or sympathies.

Idola Stellarum offers traditional astrological magic informed by a unique blend of ancestral veneration, visionary witchcraft, and ceremonial theurgy. Join us in an ongoing exploration of astromagic and stellar devotion through our empathic relational-ecological lens.

Talismanic & Devotional Resources
Astromagical and devotional resources crafted exclusively for members will build upon the blog offerings and topic explorations that Idola Stellarum already provides. The growing garden of writings and materials will provide Inner Sanctum members with trusted, curated resources rooted firmly in the astromagical tradition and developed by experienced, practicing astromages.
Extensive resources on planetary epithets for enhancing prayers and petitions, as well as hands-on, detailed information on planetary prayers, including close guidance on how to craft your own prayers, are already available. We have also begun producing some more personal hands-on essays about our own talismanic practices and the lessons we derive from them.
We have recently developed a growing series on Evaluating Astromagical Elections is expanding our resources into the more technical realm, providing enrichment for folks wanting to learn more about assessing talismanic election charts or honing their magical-electional skills.

The Practitioner Series
In the course of developing the Inner Sanctum we launched our Practitioner Series. This resource features video interviews with accomplished astromages in our community about living a magical life with practical tools to support your own.
The Practitioner Series is a new and developing resource that includes video chats with Adira Osland on Kalas (a Jyotish planetary hours technique), Ari Felix on Protection, Hawk Grubb on Neurodivergence & Magic, and Drew Levanti about the poetics and challenges of electional astrology.

Talks & Courses
Recorded talks, presentations, and self-guided mini-courses will provide a growing library of resources available to members of the Inner Sanctum. At present, members have access to a six-part mini-course on astromagical prayer spanning almost 3 hours of video content with members-only blog posts as resources supportive of learning on this topic. In the previous quarter, we debuted the first seven lessons of a mini-course on evaluating aspects of the Moon as a sub-series of a broader planned course on Evaluating Astromagical Elections, an offering for folks interested in honing their technical astromagical electional skills. New courses are always in the works!
Inspirit Salons are also recorded and made available for download, and so the membership resources will grow over time, shaped by our ongoing and evolving conversations with you.
Member Feedback Shapes the Inner Sanctum!
Member questions and feedback helps shape what resources we develop. Joining and participating ensures that your voice helps shape the Inner Sanctum to your needs!
As members, you will also have direct access to a members-only priority contact form so that we make sure to focus on your needs. Although we do not at present have a 24/7 discussion space, we are developing one alongside members to establish a brave/safer, inviting, and well-boundaried space for ongoing conversations.
Here’s what one of our founding members has to say about their experience in the Inner Sanctum:
“The Inner Sanctum of Idola Stellarum is the community I have been seeking for a long time. I have explored different magical traditions but nothing felt quite right. To be honest, the biggest absence in these traditions were practices that reflected the relationships I have with more-than-human beings. After watching Rain and Pallas’ video on their Ecological Spirit Model, I knew I had finally found a place where I fit in. I especially enjoy the monthly Salons focusing on relational magic. They are so comforting and, well, relatable! The resources in the Inner Sanctum have demystified planetary altars, prayer, and talismans and made them more approachable in my practice. Thank Pallas and Rain for creating this magical container!”
—Ann, Inner Sanctum Founding Member
Everything in the Inner Sanctum membership is available for a single price of $69 per quarter or $249 per year, granting you access to an ongoing, evolving, growing catalogue of resources created and curated by Rain & Pallas of Idola Stellarum.
Notably, only Inner Sanctum members will have live discussion access to Rain & Pallas through the Inspirit Salons and priority contact for questions and feedback.
The Inner Sanctum is currently closed to new members. Please join the wait list for news of our next opening.
“Gifts from the celestial bodies come into our bodies through our rightly prepared spirit.”

Questions & Answers about Inner Sanctum
Q: Do I already have to have a devotional / astromagical practice? Is Inner Sanctum appropriate for beginners?A: We plan on creating “101” and “102” level content as we go, and we welcome beginner questions and feedback to help us shape these resources to your needs. As of yet there is not necessarily a clear roadmap for an absolute beginner, so we would hope you would enter with a willingness to learn as you go. That said, we recently held an Inspirit Salon called “Starting Down the Starry Path” that may help provide some signposts for beginners.
Q: Will I learn how to make astrological talismans in Inner Sanctum?
A: No, we do not plan on teaching the rigorous medieval and Renaissance astrology necessary to elect astrological talismans, although we are developing written and video recorded course materials on Evaluating Astromagical Elections to help people navigate and deepen their understanding of the technical aspects of talisman electional charts. We recommend people seek out Christopher Warnock’s astrological magic course for this purpose. If enough people have a background in the art, we are open to creating more resources for fellow mages who join the Inner Sanctum.
Q: What if I’m not interested in the Salons/resources? Is there any other way to get early access to Idola Stellarum talismans?
A: No. Inner Sanctum members will have first access, followed by our mailing list, and only then will they be released to the general public, if any are still available and appropriate for public release. However, we would note that for those primarily interested in our talismans, the member discount on many of our talismans would come close to recuperating the costs of a quarterly membership.
Q: What if I’m not interested in buying a talisman? Are there other benefits to membership?
A: Yes! Early access to talismans and member pricing for our astromagical jewelry are only part of many Inner Sanctum offerings. The main resource will be monthly conversations with Rain & Pallas and quarterly guest teachers. Members will also have access to exclusive writing and other resources, as well as early access to all Idola Stellarum writing. Inner Sanctum membership can also provide a container for learning about the talismanic tradition or getting some sense of what would be a good talisman for you before deciding to make the dive.
Q: What are your credentials in astrological magic, and who are your teachers?
A: Lineage and transparency are two values we hold near. We go into our direct teachers and influences extensively on our about page, and we encourage you to look at our talisman testimonials to get a sense of what others think of our work.
Q: Can I enroll in Inner Sanctum membership month-by-month, or do I have to sign up on a quarterly basis?
A: Because we plan our offerings (e.g., talisman collections and guest lectures) on a quarterly basis and align our perspective to the seasonal turns signified by equinoxes and solstices, Inner Sanctum membership is offered solely on a quarterly or yearly basis.
Q: You talk about being white and about colonialism and white supremacy. Isn’t this about magic?
A: Magic and astrology are and always have been political, and the tradition of astrological magic as we currently hold it in our hands comes to us through multiple empires and violences of colonialism and white supremacy. We are committed to fostering a space within the tradition for devotees often excluded from more mainstream magic, and that means being willing to speak openly and candidly about our positions, values, and practices.
